College of Arts and Sciences Student Life Office of Multicultural Affairs

Welcome!

The office of Multicultural Affairs is responsible for leading the college efforts toward the advancement of a coherent and substantive commitment to diversity and multicultural perspectives. The office devotes considerable time to working with students, faculty, and staff to affect systemic change by coordinating campuswide efforts that emphasize teaching and supporting students to prepare them for full engagement in our increasingly complex and diverse world. This is done through a range of responsibilities and activities that contribute to a rich, supportive, and respectful campus in which similarities and differences across cultures are sought, welcomed, and incorporated to deepen learning.

Office functions and services include:

  • Provide academic, social and cultural support to students from underrepresented communities
  • Serve as a resource to members of the Lewis & Clark community
  • Help advise student of color organizations (Black Student Union, Gente Latina Unida, Native Student Union, Asian Student Union) and other underrepresented student organizations (Unisex-LGBT)
  • Coordinate the Lewis & Clark Intercultural Network for Connecting Students (LINCS) program
  • Assist in the organization of the Ray Warren Multicultural Symposium, the Martin Luther King (MLK) celebration, and other campus programs
  • Collaborate with the admissions office on recruitment activities designed to increase diversity on campus
