Naomi Appleton comes to us from the University of Oxford where she has just completed a thesis on stories of the previous births of the Buddha and “person and path.” She held an Arts and Humanities Research Council Doctoral Award while at Oxford (one of only four out of 100 students in the School of Oriental Studies to have such an award.), and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wales, Cardiff, with first-class honours. She has taught at the University of Cardiff, and at the Stanford University Oxford Summer Programme and co-founded the Buddhist Studies Group at Oxford, an interdisciplinary group that has its own seminars. In addition to English, her languages are Sanskrit, Pali, Sinhala, Tibetan and French.
