The German Studies major consists of courses in language, literature, and culture to prepare students for graduate study and for careers in teaching, bilingual education, translating, interpreting, and other areas in which foreign language skills are applied.

In cooperation with Reed College and Willamette University, Lewis & Clark annually offers a full-year program at the University of Munich, which fulfills the German Studies overseas study requirement.
