Life Insurance/Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance

Life insurance provides a lump sum benefit in the event of death. Accidental death & dismemberment (ADD) insurance provides an additional benefit if the death occurs as a result of an accident. Lewis & Clark provides a basic group term life insurance policy to eligible employees. The basic policy provides life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment insurance coverage at 150% of annual base salary, with coverage capped at $250,000. Coverage levels begin to decrease at age 70.

This benefit, provided by the College at no cost, is available to staff who work at least 30 hours per week for 9 or more months per year and faculty with at least .75 FTE.

Optional Insurance:

Optional term life insurance, dependent coverage, and additional accidental death & dismemberment insurance are also available through payroll deduction. Employees can purchase up to $100,000 in optional life insurance without medical underwriting during the first 31 days of employment. Additional coverage or spousal coverage is subject to underwriting approval.
