Tenure-track Assistant Professor: Developing Areas
Department of International Affairs
The Lewis & Clark College Department of International Affairs invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in developing areas beginning in August 2009. We seek candidates specializing in international relations with demonstrated research and training in Latin America, Africa, or Asia, and the capacity to teach courses and conduct research projects focusing on more than one country in their region of expertise. Potential for excellent teaching and a strong publication record are expected. A Ph.D. preferably in political science is required at the time of appointment. The teaching load is five courses per academic year and may include the College’s first-year general education program.
Review of applications will begin on September 15, 2008, and continue until the position is filled. Applications may be sent only in hard copy and must include all the following materials for consideration: (1) a curriculum vita; (2) a letter of application which includes a statement of teaching philosophy, teaching experience and interests, and current and future research projects; (3) evidence of teaching effectiveness to include sample syllabi and official teaching evaluations; (4) sample of scholarship not to exceed 50 pages; (5) graduate transcripts; and (6) three letters of recommendation sent under separate cover.
