Hi, I’m Sara! One question I have always cringed at is, “Where are you from?” Perhaps the reason is because I find it impossible to give an answer without a lengthy explanation as I am half Saudi and half Finnish, was born in San Francisco but also raised in England, the UAE and the US. As a result of my multicultural upbringing, I am very interested in majoring in international affairs and communication in hopes of pursuing a successful career in international media journalism. My nonacademic interests include high fashion, traveling, tennis, and yoga, all of which I can continue to partake in while here in Portland (okay, perhaps except for the high fashion!).
You may ask how I first heard of Lewis & Clark and why I chose to come here. Well, I basically have Lewis & Clark to thank for my ethnic background as my parents met here as students. Thus this college has always been one of potential interest to me. I absolutely love the emphasis on internationalism and diversity here whether it is the amazing mix of students, the variety of overseas programs or the opportunities given to help us international students and TCKs to excel.
I really enjoy dorm life and the familial atmosphere I share with my hall mates. However, I am still adjusting to time management in regards to balancing my social life, course load, and other responsibilities. However, after I have that down, I plan on joining more clubs and campus activities as well as studying abroad in France at some point during my college career. But, until then, I have to finish my Russian homework for tomorrow. Cheers!
