Professional Background
Before attending law school, Lew began his professional career as an accountant at Arthur Andersen LLP and Cardinal Foods, Inc. During that time, he received his CPA license from the State of Ohio.
After graduating from The Ohio State University College of Law, Lew practiced law in the Business Section of the Baker & Hostetler law firm in Columbus, Ohio, performing transactional legal work for the firm’s various clients. Lew spent most of his legal career as in-house counsel for Honda of America Mfg., Inc. in Marysville, Ohio, working his way up to Associate Chief Counsel. In that senior management position, Lew was responsible for the day-to-day administration of Honda’s Legal Department and for legal counsel provided to Honda’s manufacturing entities throughout the U.S., with a primary emphasis on counsel provided in the areas of contracts, corporate governance, tax, and intellectual property. Lew also managed Honda’s Intellectual Property Group.
Before coming to Lewis & Clark, Lew owned and operated Goalsetter Inc. dba Club Z! In-Home Tutoring Service. Lew’s company provided one-on-one in-home instruction to students throughout central Ohio. Lew currently serves as Clinical Law Professor for Lewis & Clark’s Small Business Legal Clinic.
Throughout his professional career, Lew has been actively involved in providing pro bono legal services and in representing various social causes. Among other activities, Lew was involved in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization and the Columbus Bar Association’s Lawyers for Justice Program and has served on several non-profit boards in central Ohio.
