Professional Background
Laura established the National Center for Animal Law at Lewis & Clark Law School upon graduation to build upon the school's national reputation as a leader in animal law. The National Center for Animal Law supports students pursuing careers in animal law by fostering curriculum developments; hosting conferences, competitions, and trainings; providing financial support for animal law students; and providing resources and mentorship.
As a student, she was Editor in Chief of the Animal Law Review, Director of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund, and student Pro Bono coordinator. She has interned with the Humane Society of the United States, and worked with Blair, Schaffer, Hutchison, and Wolfe, and the Animal Law Practice.
Laura has been practicing animal law since 2002 and established the Animal Law Clinic in 2006. She currently serves as the clinical professor of the Animal Law Clinic, providing students with real world experiences advocating for animals through litigation, legislative, and regulatory efforts.
