Professional Background
Peterson has spent much of his career representing the poor. He began by practicing poverty law in rural southern Illinois with the Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation. There he conducted complex class litigation in an area with a history of racial strife. Peterson later practiced with Oregon Legal Services in Klamath Falls before coming to the Lewis & Clark Legal Clinic in 1987. Currently he teaches civil litigation techniques using residential eviction cases as a model. Peterson is also active on committees serving the rights of the disabled.
