School of Law Admissions Question of the Week

Question of the Week - February

Q: Do you provide any accommodations for students with learning and/or physical disabilities?

A: Yes, accommodations can be made for people with disabilities. You may be asked to provide documentation of your diagnosis and recommendations for accommodations by a licensed professional. You should discuss any needs with our Disability Services Office and our Academic Affairs Office after you have been admitted. Details of how to provide accommodations will be determined prior to the start of school.

Q: I notice that your application deadline of March 1st is coming up. Will the admissions committee even review my application if it gets completed after that date?

A: Yes, your application will still be reviewed. Our deadline of March 1st is a priority deadline, not an absolute deadline. This means that priority for space in the class is given to those who completed their applications (i.e. all required items are in the admissions office) before March 1st, but that those who apply after this date will still be considered on a space-available basis.

Q: I would like to set up a visit to see the law school. How can I do that?

A: The easiest way to schedule a visit is to use our online visit form:

http://www.lclark. edu/dept/lawadmss/ visit_request.html.

During a visit you can get a tour of the law school, sit in on a first year class, and/or meet with an admissions director if you have questions about the law school or applying. Tours are generally given by current students unless classes are not in session that day.

We strongly encourage prospective or admitted law students to visit the schools they are seriously considering attending. Getting a feel for the campus and the people are important determiners when making the decision about where you will feel comfortable as a student.

Q: Can I apply to start law school in the spring semester?

A: A few law schools do have “spring start” options, but if you are applying as a new incoming student at Lewis & Clark Law School then you can only start in the fall semester. Transfer students have the option of starting in the spring, but should discuss this with our Registrar’s Office to make sure that they can sign up for any required courses they may not have already taken at their prior law school.
