Technology at the Law School

The Law School offers wireless Internet access to all areas of the Law School. These include:

  • Classrooms
  • Law review offices
  • Library
  • Study areas
  • Student lounge
  • Outside in the amphitheater
  • Faculty offices

There's universal access to the wireless network, so students can use the computer and operating systems of their choice.

In addition to wireless Internet access, the Law School has over 700 hard-wired network ports, which cover most classrooms, the entire library and all of Wood Hall.

Computer Labs

The lab manager and lab assistants are also available to answer questions about software on the lab computers.

The student computer labs have top-of-the-line Dell Desktop PC's with Intel Pentium 4 processors, DVD burners and headphones. Both labs are handicap accessible. The computer labs are upgraded with new computers every two years.

The main student computer lab has 20 computers plus one computer with a scanner and imaging software. The teaching computer lab has 12 computers and a projector for class use. Students may use the teaching lab except when classes are conducted. All of the lab computers have the latest (stable) versions of Microsoft Office, WordPerfect, Internet browsers and other popular software.

The Technical Details

The Law School campus has a fiber Internet connection to the undergraduate college and over 30 megs of shared bandwidth going out to our Internet Service Provider. Westlaw and LexisNexis each have a dedicated T1 line.

For printing, there are three Hewlett Packard high-speed, large-capacity printers for students to use. All students and organizations are given storage space on the network server and this data is backed up nightly. The Dell servers are replaced every three years.
