Energy Law

This course exposes students to the legal, economic, and structural issues involved in energy regulation and energy markets, focusing on electricity. The course examines the history, evolution, theory, and practice of energy regulation and rate-making. The course will focus on regulation of the “traditional” energy sources, such as coal, oil, and natural gas, but will also explore alternative energy technologies and regulation. Course evaluation is primarily by a final exam, but also includes 2-3 short research projects during the semester.
