Federal Courts
Description:
This course studies the constitutional, statutory, and judicial rules that determine whether a case is tried in state court, federal court, or administrative agencies, and the underlying jurisprudence of federalism and separation of powers. Most of the doctrines covered are omitted or treated summarily in other law-school courses. This is an important course for anyone wanting to be a federal judicial law clerk, to litigate in federal court, or to litigate federal issues in state forums. There will be a final exam.
