Water Policy Seminar **

Description:

In this class, students will explore a wide variety of current issues in water law and policy, including such topics as: water marketing and water banking; the role of subsidies and incentives and other economic issues in water management; conflicts between modern environmental regulation and traditional water allocation law; federalism issues in water management; locally-based watershed initiatives; reclamation and reuse of water; evolving areas of "integration" in water law (quality and quantity, water use and land use regulation, ecosystem management, conjunctive management of groundwater and surface water); and global water management issues. Evaluation will be based on student papers, student presentations, and class participation. Students may use this class to satisfy either the A or B paper requirement, and the class may be counted toward the Certificate in Environmental & Natural Resources Law.
