Clinical Internship Seminar: Natural Resources Development for the Small Operator


Description:

This course provides students with the opportunity to develop practical lawyering skills in the context of natural resource development by small entities or groups who work with and represent such entities. Students are placed in legal settings by the instructor, who meets weekly with the students to discuss their work. Placements will be with individuals such as farmers, ranchers, timber operators, mineral operators, mineral operators and real estate developers and with organizations like farming and ranching associations, mining associations and timber associations. Students are expected to work in their placement at least 10 hours per week and to develop a written product of at least moderate complexity and length during their internship experience.

Applicants for this class are screened through a short interview process. To apply, submit a one page statement describing why you wish to take this course and listing relevant background experience, including courses you have taken which are relevant to the work you would do in this course. Students shall not be compensated for work performed in connection with a CIS placement.
