SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

All students who apply for admission and file a FAFSA will be considered for the maximum loans and scholarships available. Timely completion of the program application is strongly recommended. Application files will be used for selecting scholarships.


The Carol D. Dimich Memorial Scholarship: Established in 1994, this scholarship is awarded each year to a nontraditional student in the M.A.T. preservice program.

Application information for the Dimich Scholarship is distributed to all students during the fall semester.


Far West Fibers, Inc. Math/Science Scholarship:

This scholarship will be awarded to a preservice M.A.T. student accepted into the intern program in Mathematics or Science. Candidates who have a record of commitment and service to low income, recently immigrated Spanish-speaking communities in the U.S., and are fluent in English and Spanish, are eligible.


Helen E. Holt Scholarship:

This scholarship will be awarded to a preservice M.A.T. student accepted into the intern program. Student must demonstrate intention to serve diverse student populations, possess a strong academic background and show potential as a future teacher.


Partnership for Diversity Scholarships: Lewis & Clark College/Catlin Gabel School: Scholarships will be awarded to preservice MAT students accepted into the EC/EL intern program with a placement at Catlin Gabel School. There is a collaborative selection process between Lewis & Clark and Catlin Gabel faculty. Individuals who are members of a currently or historically under-represented racial or ethnic group, or individuals who have demonstrated significant commitment to serving racially or ethnically diverse student populations are eligible and are invited to apply. Mary Stuart Rogers Scholarships:

Scholarships are awarded to preservice M.A.T. students accepted into the intern program whose outstanding academic achievements are complemented by qualities of leadership, dedication, integrity, compassion, sensitivity, and self-discipline.

Teacher Education Scholarships: Additional scholarships of varied amounts will be available through the Graduate School. Priority will be given to candidates with demonstrated financial need and who are preparing to teach in areas of high need; e.g., mathematics, science, working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.


Teacher Education Diversity Scholarships: Scholarships will be awarded to preservice M.A.T. students accepted into the intern program. These scholarships address the critical need for increasing ethnic diversity and a strong commitment to serving diverse student populations within the northwest. Individuals who are from ethnic minority backgrounds and/or have demonstrated significant commitment to serving diverse student populations are eligible.


James M. Wallace Scholarship:

This scholarship will be awarded to a preservice M.A.T. student accepted into the intern program. This scholarship is awarded to a student who has demonstrated a commitment to the progressive philosophy that places students at the center of learning (according to the theories of educators such as John Dewey and Maria Montessori).


ADDITIONAL SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

All applicants for financial aid must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA to the federal processing center. The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Students interested in receiving a scholarship are encouraged to apply as soon after January 1st as possible.

The Oregon School Personnel Association offers a $1,500 scholarship. Application materials and requirements are available online at www.TeachOregon.com.

The Oregon State Assistance Commission offers a several scholarship awards to graduate students. Visit their Web page at www.osac.state.or.us.

The Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber offers various scholarships to provide support and encouragement for Hispanics beginning or continuing their higher education. Application materials and requirements are available online at www.hmccoregon.com.

The Graduate School of Education at Lewis & Clark College participates in Federal Perkins Loan, the Federal Stafford Program, and private education loan programs. Students must be enrolled in a degree program to be eligible for federal financial aid.

The Gates Millennium Scholars Program offers scholarships to students of color looking to enter careers in education. They can be contacted at www.gmsp.org.

FAFSA

In order to be considered for Lewis & Clark Graduate School Scholarships, it is important to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon after Jan. 1 as possible. You can submit the FAFSA online http://www.fafsa. ed.gov. Lewis & Clark's school code is 003197.
