Pro Bono & Community Service Honors Awards - 2007

This year marked the 9th annual presentation of the Law School’s Pro Bono Honors Awards and the 6th annual presentation of the Community Service Honors Awards. To be eligible to receive one of the awards, students need to have completed a minimum of 30 hours of not-for-credit and not for compensation work for a government, public interest or non-profit organization between April 2006 - March 2007.

By way of history, in 1999, 17 students were presented with Pro Bono Awards. This year, we presented 82 pro bono awards and 32 community service awards. Over 15 % of our student body received an award this year, and many more students have done at least some volunteer work. The total number of volunteer hours reported by students this year was 9,093 hours. This is the equivalent of one person working full-time for 4 and a half years! The amount of work Lewis & Clark law students have done this year is truly astounding. Never underestimate the difference that one person can make!
