The Career Services Office staff members are:
Libby Davis, J.D., is the Assistant Dean, and is responsible for the overall functioning of the office, doing extensive outreach with employers around the country, and with state and local bar associations, as well as doing individual counseling and some programming. Libby is a 1993 graduate of the law school, and was in private practice and also directed the Alumni Office at the law school prior to joining Career Services. She is a member of NALP, the Oregon Women Lawyers Foundation Board of Directors, the Oregon State Bar, and the Multnomah Bar Association.
Ellen Jones, J.D., is the Director of Career Services. She is primarily responsible for individual counseling and program planning. Ellen is a 1991 graduate of the law school and was previously a staff attorney and Executive Director of a non-profit law firm. Prior to joining Lewis & Clark, she was Director of Career Services at Willamette University College of Law. Ellen is a member of NALP, the Oregon State Bar, and the Multnomah Bar Association.
Bill Penn, J.D., is the Public Interest Law Coordinator. He counsels students and provides information about pro bono, LRAP and careers in public interest. Bill graduated cum laude from the the law school in 2002. Prior to joining the law school, Bill practiced law first in a small firm he opened with a fellow graduate and then with another small firm working in the areas of bankruptcy, tax debt, consumer litigation, and probate. Both as a law student and as an attorney, Bill has been active in a myriad of pro bono and public interest activities, including the Classroom Law Project, the Multnomah County Small Claims Court mediation program and the Community Alliance of Tenants. He is a member of NALP, the Oregon State Bar, and the Multnomah Bar Association where he serves on the YLS Pro Bono Committee. Bill also continues to coach the Mock Trial Teams at Grant High School.
Vicki Nelson is the Assistant Director for Career Services. She is responsible for maintaining our expansive database of employers around the Northwest, the nation, and the world. She also takes major responsibility for Fall Recruiting Program, Northwest Public Service Career Fair, work study, and keeping statistical information. Vicki has been with the office for several years, and has extensive prior experience as a paralegal and legal secretary in the legal community. Vicki is a member of NALP and Oregon Legal Recruiting Association (OLRA).
Diana Mann is our Administrative Coordinator and maintains our extensive job postings database. For a number of years, Diana served as a judicial assistant in the Multnomah County court system.
Patrick Gorman is our Administrative Assistant. He provides reception and office support services.
Students and alumni are invited to make appointments with the Assistant Dean, Director or Public Interest Law Coordinator. You may either call our office at (503) 768-6608, or email us at the addresses below. In order to make the best use of your time and our time, we ask that you drop off, mail or fax your resume or cover letter at least two days prior to your appointment. This will give us the most current information on your job search and the ability to discuss any necessary revisions. In preparation for your appointment, you should review pertinent information in the Career Services Handbook.
Remember, certain times of the year are busier than others - our office is very busy during mid-August and early September, and again in late January and early February - so it is best to schedule an appointment in advance. Drop-in appointments can usually be accommodated but if you have anything beyond "one quick question," you are encouraged to make an appointment. You are always welcome to use the Resource Library any time during office hours and ask for assistance from our staff. Feel free to make appointments, or ask us questions, through email!
