Carol Biel holds a BM degree from Drake University and a MM degree from Western Michigan University. A recipient of Drake University’s Ruth Pickford Award for excellence in teaching, she has twenty years of pedagogical experience. She has established a music program for toddlers, taught Kindermusik, and continues teaching solfege and keyboard classes at Harmony Road Music. She is a nationally certified teacher through MTNA.

Ms. Biel maintains a full private studio, adjudicates piano festivals and coaches piano teachers and accompanists. A former staff accompanist at Southwest Texas State University, she is actively performing in chamber groups, free-lances in the Portland area, and is releasing her third CD. With a passion for collaborating art forms, Ms Biel is teaching workshops on the healing affects of sound and music. She performs home concerts in the Portland area which explore the energetic and meta-physical benefits of classical, jazz, and folk music. With training in vocal energetics and toning, Ms Biel integrates her musical background with her yogic and dance training and currently teaches classes in Sound Yoga. She has been on the faculty of Lewis & Clark College since 1994.
