The Northwest Writing Institute approaches writing as an imaginative act at the heart of cultural awareness and professional life. The Workshops in Writing and Critical Thinking include seminars designed for faculty and professional development in writing and critical thinking.

The Personal Voice in Professional Writing workshop convenes Lewis & Clark graduate students and working professionals to explore the power of writing to engage the boundary between curiosity and of knowledge, between personal insight and professional practice. The Workshops in Imaginative Writing draw together a community of writers for seminars in fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction and other forms of lively discourse. The collaborative nature of these courses serves the needs of the teacher who has a personal interest in writing or who is seeking professional advancement; the active professional in the wide variety of fields to which writing is integral; and writers who seek to establish a serious arena of writing in their lives and to publish.
