Professional Development Program

The College Outdoors Professional Development Program provides outdoors skills training ot members of the Lewis & Clark community who are interested in outdoor leadership. We aim to bring our participants to a high level of self-sufficiency in diverse outdoor environments and a well-rounded understanding of skills involved.

Professional Development Trips:

College Outdoors offers numerous trips each year with the potential to foster and expand essential skills for an outdoor professional. Although trip schedules vary from semester to semester, our offerings often include:
  • Map and Compass Clinic
  • Whitewater Raft Guide workshop
  • Wilderness First Responder Certification and Recertification
  • Check out our most current schedule of trips or ask us in the office if you have questions about these trips!

    Leadership Opportunities:

Involvement with College Outdoors is an excellent way to gain practical experience in leadership roles. If you want to get more involved with College Outdoors, come join us. We rely on our volunteers. Volunteering is not only valuable to the program, but continued volunteering can sometimes land you a staff position once you learn how the program works.

Leadership here at College Outdoors is structured into three main categories. To understand this we have created a "Leadership Ladder" table that explains these categories. To apply to help lead trips please print and fill out the Application. If you have trouble accessing this PDF file please stop by our office for a paper copy.
