  • The Meyer Memorial Trust has awarded the College a generous gift of $1 million for the Bicentennial Project.

  • Kate Gessford, a junior who is majoring in biochemistry, has received a Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, the nation’s premier undergraduate award in mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering.

  • Casey Fagre, a sophomore from West Glacier, Mont., who is majoring in environmental studies has receives a $5,000 scholarship from the Morris K. Udall Foundation. The foundation promotes scholarship and excellence in national environmental policy. Graham Gilbert, a junior from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, received honorable mention in this national competition that attracted 510 nominees.

    Fagre spent the summer o 2000 working as an ecological research intern at Cedar Creek Natural History Area in Bethel, Minn. Active in College Outdoors, she has visited the Alvord Desert and other parts of the Pacific Northwest. She has a long-term interest in working in habitat and ecosystem restoration.

  • Lewis & Clark College will offer a seven-day travel seminar to explore the Corps of Discovery’s challenging journey across the Lolo Trail in north central Idaho. The program will begin Friday, July 20, at the College with informal discussions. Over the next six days, seminar participants will travel in the footsteps of the original explorers on a westward path across the Selway Bitteroot Wilderness.
