Front Page Annual Report Giving Forward

Giving forward: Around the block and back in time

BethBeth Foster Fox '88 is entertaining her two-year-old daughter, Nora (left, at 15 months), and two-week-old son, Ben, by taking them for a walk in their Minneapolis neighborhood and talking about her college days. "When I think of Lewis & Clark, I think first and foremost of the whole environment for learning--the location, small class sizes, one-on-one connections with professors, international focus, and interesting students. I considered several colleges, but when I visited the campus I knew immediately this was the place for me."

Pausing while the kids wave at a passing truck, Fox continues, "Lewis & Clark uniquely prepares students for the bigger world. I didn't realize how much my studies and interactions with students from other cultures really meant until I graduated and lived in Beijing and Hong Kong. My experiences at the College helped me feel comfortable."

Now a Gatehouse Society member, Fox says, "When my husband and I sit down to plan our annual giving, we make our colleges a priority. I believe everyone who had a good experience here needs to support the College by giving. For me, it's not so much a financial decision as a commitment to sustaining what Lewis & Clark is and does." Nora nods and Ben gurgles happy agreement.
