College of Arts and Sciences Campus Living Residence Halls Copeland Hall

Copeland

Located near the ravine, many Copeland rooms offer scenic views. Coed, single sex and gender-neutral housing options are available to students. The building consists of eight connected wings, A through G. Each wing has up to four floors, each of which is home to eight to thirteen people. There are singles, double, triples and quads in Copeland. A small kitchen and lounge complete every floor.

In the main lounge, one can’t help but appreciate the beautiful fireplace, piano, and balcony overlooking our backyard. Many events occur in our lounge, including the occasional s’more-making extravaganza.

Each year, students transform their areas into unique living environments; for example, Copeland Heights (C50's) or "The Lair of Awesome" (A32) always seems to be doing something, whether it is an impromptu dance party or a mass study session. Students can apply to paint a lounge or hallway to complete the effect. Copeland's relaxed yet upbeat atmosphere offers itself up as one of Lewis & Clark's more lively halls.

The Green Theme floor is located in G Wing. Visit them whenever or attend their programs throughout the year. The Green residents are charged with leadership, programming and advocacy related to issues of sustainability.

Visit the Copeland CLC and CLA office, located next to the main lounge, to find a staff member, information, or vacuum. Or just drop by and say hello!

Take a look at a typical room layout for a QUAD or a DOUBLE occupancy room. You can download the page for a closer look but keep in mind, especially for a quad, this is just a sample. Of course, all four-person rooms have four beds, desks, closets, dressers but the layout might be slightly different.

Recent Upgrades

In spring 2007, Copeland’s Campus Living Staff received a brand new office on the main level, providing students a more accessible space to check out games, vacuums, and other supplies.

During the summer of 2007, two new wings and four new floors transformed the “Garden Level” of Copeland. With their sleek and modern designs and tremendous space, these new rooms, lounges and kitchens are hot spots to relax and work on homework with friends.

Fire sprinklers were installed throughout the building in the summer of 2008. In addition, bathroom partitions were upgraded.

A Message from the Campus Living Coordinator:

Greetings and welcome to Copeland Hall! Home to a predominantly first-years and sophomores, the building is full of energy and excitement. Copeland is the largest residence hall on campus, meaning that there are tons of new people to meet and experiences to be had.

Our Campus Living Advisors (CLAs) are a fantastic group, and I encourage you to meet yours. They and I are excited to get to know all throughout the year at programs, athletic events, performances and other campus activities.

If you love meeting new people, building strong community and taking advantage of opportunities to grow and learn, Copeland is a great fit for you!
