College of Arts and Sciences Campus Living Residence Halls Hartzfeld Hall

Hartzfeld SideHartzfeld Hall

Hartzfeld, an extended quiet hours community, houses 100 students in four two-story buildings and is one of the most-popular residence halls that are available to sophomores and above. Hartzfeld is arranged in suite-style housing: four students in two adjoining rooms share bath facilities. A coed complex, Hartzfeld's suites are alternated according to sex.

Hartzfeld offers students a great place to interact with their community in the central lounge with fireplace and brand new spacious community kitchens! Hartzfeld buildings are small enough - only 25 residents each -- to provide each resident with privacy, yet plenty of opportunities to meet new people.

With only 25 occupants per building, the residents in Hartzfeld tend to get to know their neighbors and create a community quickly. To help make this happen, a Campus Living Advisor (CLA) lives in and oversees each Hartzfeld building. Each CLA is responsible for planning programs (special events) throughout the year, ranging from things like ice cream socials to study abroad info sessions and everything in between. The Hartzfeld CLAs are also thoroughly trained in peer counseling and mediation skills to help residents in those areas, should the need arise. Likewise, as undergraduate juniors and seniors, they are great resources for information about the campus, college, and Portland community.

Take a look at a typical room layout. All rooms in Hartzfeld are DOUBLE occupancy and this layout represents most rooms. You can download the page for a closer look.

A Message from the Campus Living Coordinator:

Hi! My name is Faith Nussbaum, and I'm the Campus Living Coordinator for Hartzfeld and East, Roberts, and West Halls. These halls are great communities for returning students who would like a little more privacy and autonomy.
