Green Power Initiative

Beginning in the Fall of 2007 every student enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences had the opportunity to contribute $20 per academic year to the purchase of green energy. For each contribution, the College will purchase 1,333 kWh of clean, renewable energy. The $20 will go directly to the purchase of Green Tags from the Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF), a non-profit organization based in Portland, Oregon. Each Green Tag represents a specific amount of electricity from a wind turbine, a solar panel or another renewable energy source.

In it's first year 2007-08, fewer than 4% of undergraduate students chose to opt-out of the Green Power Initiative. Let's keep up the good work in 2008-09.

If you decide to opt out of the program, you must enter your ID# and Name below. Be sure to check the open box before hitting the Submit button.
