Crisis Management and Emergency Preparation

Lewis & Clark College's Crisis Management Plan is a basic guide to providing a response system, by the Lewis & Clark College Administration, to a major crisis or emergency occurring on the College Campus.

Why Prepare?

Disasters usually strike without warning. They can force neighborhood evacuation or confine you in your home. Your family can be separated. You and your loved ones can be injured. Emergency response workers may not be able to help you if thousands of people are affected at once. In these situations, preparedness and self-reliance become very important.

Are you prepared to survive on your own for the first 72 hours following a major disaster such as an earthquake? This guide will help you prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies that threaten the safety of your family.

This guide will help you answer these questions and more:

  • How will our family reunite following a disaster?
  • What can we do if the water supply is contaminated?
  • If electricity is out, how will we obtain emergency information?
  • Who will give first aid to my family if medical workers can’t?
  • Can we evacuate our home in five minutes? What should we take?
