Monitoring Funds

FWS earnings must be monitored closely by students and supervisors. Students are awarded FWS through the financial aid process. The specific amount of the award is included on students' award letters and on FWS Confirmation Forms. Because Federal Work-Study funds are governed by federal regulations, award amounts must be strictly observed. Students can track FWS earnings by adding their gross income from each pay period. If students have multiple jobs, it will be necessary to keep track of the gross wages for the job(s) paying FWS funds.

Student Financial Services monitors individual students' earnings from FWS funds. Supervisors/departments will be notified in a timely manner if students have used their entire FWS awards, or have minimal funds remaining. When FWS awards have been fully earned, notification requiring students to stop working immediately is sent to supervisors.
