Spanish Study Abroad Programs
All Hispanic Studies majors are required to participate in one of the College's international programs. Overseas study is the most effective way for students to improve their language skills and experience the culture they are studying. The following programs are availabe in Hispanic Studies:
- An annual spring semester program in Ecuador. Spanish 201 is a prerequisite.
- Fall/spring/full-year program in Santiago, Dominican Republic. Spanish 202 is a prerequisite.
- A biennial spring semester program in Seville, Spain. Spanish 201 is a prerequisite.
- An annual fall/spring/full-year program in Santiago, Chile, at the Catholic and National universities. Three years of college Spanish or participation in the fall semester program in the Dominican Republic or spring semester program in Ecuador is a prerequisite. Hispanic studies majors are required to participate in at least a one-semester program in either Ecuador, Spain, the Dominican Republic, or Chile. The department recommends that Hispanic studies majors spend a full year in Chile or combine one semester at another site with a semester in Chile.
