FACULTY RESEARCH SUPPORT

The Sponsored Research Office (SRO) at Lewis & Clark supports the College’s academic program by helping CAS faculty obtain external support for their scholarship and teaching.

The first steps in writing a grant proposal are to identify what you intend to do, decide how you plan to do it, and assess what resources (including time) you need to accomplish your project. With that, the SRO can help you with the various aspects of developing a grant proposal, such as:

  • Helping to identify funding sources, through manual and electronic searches
  • Maintaining a resource library of private and public funding sources
  • Obtaining guidelines and application materials
  • Interpreting guidelines of a funding source, program, or request for proposal
  • Understanding federal regulations
  • Developing a timeline for preparing a proposal and implementing the project
  • Developing and preparing a budget
  • Providing proposal and budget review to assure compliance with the funding source and the College’s requirements
  • Gathering institutional information
  • Coordinating internal reviews and required approvals
  • Helping with FastLane and other on-line submission programs
