Session I: May 27 - June 30, no exam.
Participate in the Lewis & Clark Legal Clinic, one of the teaching clinics for the Law School. Students assist in the representation of actual clients and learn the basic lawyering skills of interviewing, document preparation, negotiations, office practice, and trial and appellate advocacy.
The clinic focuses on residential eviction defenses, child-support modification hearings, domestic violence cases, bankruptcy, tax controversies with the Internal Revenue Service, and consumer issues. Some case types may not be offered. Students must have completed the equivalent of one semester of their second year of law school. Student are expected to work at the clinic from 9:00am - 3:30pm Monday through Thursday. The clinic is located at 310 S.W. Fourth Avenue, Suite 1018, in downtown Portland.
Professors: Richard Slottee, Theresa Wright, Mark Peterson, and Jan Pierce, 4 semester hours.
