Akin Hall houses 65 students on two floors in mostly double occupancy rooms. The residents of Akin say the advantages of this hall include its large comfortable rooms, its location on campus, and the people. The rooms are carpeted and equipped with walk-in closets and movable furniture. Each floor has a large lounge and kitchen. In the central lounge, you can often find students chatting around a cozy fire, watching television or playing the piano. As Lewis & Clark's Multicultural Hall, Akin's mission is to bring together students from different backgrounds to learn from one another -- promoting an understanding of ethnic and racial diversity, as well as international awareness, within American culture. Akin sponsors a number of diversity-focused programs each year, including the annual Cultural Fair and International Fair.
