Griswold Stadium contains an eight-lane, all-weather, 400-meter track, as well as a new artificial turf field and a partially covered grandstand seating 3,600. Other outdoor athletics facilities include a baseball and softball complex and six tennis courts, three of which are covered by a heated air dome.
The stadium field surface was renovated in 1999 with an AstroTurf 12 all-weather playing surface. The level field drains vertically and features an irrigation system to reduce heat and enhance the playing condition of the surface. The field also has full inlaid markings for soccer and football. During the summer of 2003 outdoor lighting was installed in the stadium. Students are now able to enjoy College sporting events during the evenings.
Lewis & Clark has been a leading contender in national small-college athletics for more than four decades. Men compete in nine varsity sports: baseball, basketball, crew, cross country, football, golf, swimming, tennis, and track and field. Women at Lewis & Clark compete in ten varsity sports: basketball, crew, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.
