Collaboration is key for Oregon’s Middle School Principal of the Year, Chris Mills M.A.T. ’84. In this profile in The Oregonian, Mills discusses his leadership approach, which focuses on listening to the ideas of teachers and students around him.
Mills has been the principal of Gardiner Middle School in Oregon City for the past 12 years, during which time he helped to implement professional learning communities at the school. The innovative technique, which encourages teachers to meet regularly to share tips and discuss methods, has been adopted by all Oregon City schools this year.
