Hon. Betty Roberts Women in the Law speaker: Pamela S. Karlan
The Law School will welcome Pamela S. Karlan, the Kenneth and Harle Montgomery Professor of Public Interest Law at Stanford Law School and co-director of the school’s Supreme Court Litigation Clinic, as the second Hon. Betty Roberts Women in the Law speaker.
Karlan specializes in the areas of constitutional law and litigation, including voting rights, civil rights, and criminal procedure. She is the co-author of Keeping Faith With the Constitution (2009), as well as several leading casebooks.
Karlan has also participated in extensive pro bono litigation, primarily before the Supreme Court of the United States. She has represented parties in more than thirty merits cases (arguing in six), as well as representing amici curiae and parties at the certiorari stage in numerous other cases.
On the basis of her work representing minority voters and elected officials, the American Lawyer named her one of its Public Sector 45 – a group of lawyers “actively using their law degrees to change lives.”
