An Evening of Poetry with Vern Rutsala

A distinguished poet, Professor Emeritus Vern Rutsala has published more than 700 poems in poetry journals including Atlantic Monthly, Times Literary Supplement, New Yorker, Midland, Poetry, Harper’s, American Poetry Review, Chicago Review, Mississippi Review, Nebraska Review, Seneca Review, and New Letters. Rutsala has penned sixteen books of poetry and has been featured in numerous anthologies.

Among his awards are a Guggenheim Fellowship, two National Endowment for the Arts fellowships, a Masters Fellowship from the Oregon Arts Commission, the Carolyn Kizer Poetry Prize, and the Northwest Poets Prize. Rutsala was a member of the English department faculty at Lewis & Clark College from 1961-2004.

The latest issue of Hubbub, is devoted to the work and life of Vern Rutsala. In addition to Marvin Bell, writers such as Maxine Scates, Mark Jarman, Charles Baxter and Christopher Howell, among many others, pay homage to Rutsala in poetry and prose in the journal.
