Juan Carlos Toledano Redondo joined the faculty of Lewis and Clark College as Assistant Professor of Hispanic Studies in 2001. After completing a B.A. in Spanish Philology at the Universidad de Granada, Spain, he received his PhD. in Romance Languages at the University of Miami, FL, with a concentration on Hispanic Caribbean literature. Juan Carlos teaches courses on the fantastic, nation building, and feminism in Latin America and Spain. He has published a dissertation and different articles on the relationship between the 1959 Cuban Revolution and the production of science fiction in the island. Currently, he is working on the representation of Christianity in the contemporary science fiction production of Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
