This program allows you to build an almost totally elective program in courses associated with education as it intersects the liberal arts. You may choose from a wide range of courses offered through the Northwest Writing Institute, the Core Program, and education content courses with limited focus on pedagogy. Individuals seeking this degree should meet with an advisor early in their program.
The Liberal Studies Program provides you the opportunity to self-design a program that will assist you in meeting professional goals. You can incorporate special areas of interest, such as science, social studies, place-based education, writing and reading, and curriculum design. The faculty at Lewis & Clark is excited to work collaboratively with you to build an exciting, challenging, and dynamic program.
The main features of this program are that it can function as a self-designed professional development plan for individuals interested in education and the liberal arts, but not seeking to be licensed as a teacher. We also offer programs that prepare you to be a teacher or offer professional development for practicing educators.
Program Faculty
Alejandra Favela, Sara Exposito, Vern Jones, Kasi Allen, Greg Smith, Christine Moore, Ruth Shagoury, and Andie Cunningham
