Katherine Kondylis

 

Professional Biography

Throughout her career, Katherine has worked predominantly in schools with diverse student populations.  She began her career in education teaching preschool and Head Start in Seattle, Washington.  Since moving to Oregon in 1998, Katherine has worn many hats in local public schools. She has worked as a 1st and 2nd grade two-way immersion teacher, a first grade bilingual teacher,  an English Language Development teacher and Title One Reading Specialist. Before coming to Lewis and Clark, Katherine was a Teacher on Special Assignment in programs for English language learners. In this capacity she planned and implemented professional development for teachers, and supported teachers and administrators in program design, instruction and assessment.  In addition to her work as a public school teacher, Katherine has done practicum supervision for student teachers at Pacific Oaks College NW, taught in the Early Childhood Education Program at Portland Community College, and is a certified trainer in the Focused Approach to Systematic English Language Development.  Katherine has a particular passion for helping educators effectively serve students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
