Continuing Education
PrISM at Lewis & Clark
The goal of Preparation for Instruction of Science & Mathematics to enhance elementary education (PrISM) is to improve instruction in mathematics and science across the state of Oregon.
Through PrISM, teachers study exciting, inquiry-based, integrated math and science courses at Lewis & Clark College, Eastern Oregon University, George Fox University, Oregon State University, Portland State University, University of Portland, and Western Oregon University.
Although many PrISM courses are aimed at K-8 teachers, many others are equally interesting and helpful for high school teachers. High school teachers may enroll in these courses, receive graduate credit, and are eligible to receive tuition assistance. Please contact the PrISM academic advisor at your home institution or the course instructor if you have any question about the applicability of a particular course to the high school level.
Courses are available in various on-line, summer institute, and flexible formats and feature a common tuition across institutions. Completion of 6 courses earns an experienced teacher a PrISM certificate. Credits earned may stand alone, serve as part of a graduate degree, or contribute to license renewal.
PrISM participants first enroll in the program, then select a host institution for advising. Courses may be selected from the PrISM offerings at any of the institutions listed above. Visit the PrISM homepage for more information. For a description of the PrISM curriculum visit: http://www.prismoregon.org/curriculum.php
