Graduate School Convocation an Opportunity for Students, Faculty to Gather Across Programs.

On September 8, students and faculty from all disciplines at the Graduate School will gather for the 2009 Convocation to honor the collective work we all do.  Convocation is a time to reflect on the core values of our programs- creativity, compassion, commitment- and how these values impact us in our lives, both professionally and personally.

We will meet at Agnes Flanagan Chapel on the Fir Acres (undergraduate) campus across the street from the Graduate School.  During the first hour of the event, selected faculty members will participate in a moderated panel discussing how our core values have affected their personal and professional lives.

Following the panel discussion, we will return to South Campus for small group discussions followed by a wine and cheese reception.  The small group discussions will center on a collection of faculty articles that explore our core values.  These articles will also give you an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the work of our faculty.

We request that you read the summaries of all the articles, and choose three that most interest you to read in full.  Be prepared to discuss one article in depth, bringing in any meaningful passages or ideas that you’d like to share with your group.  You are, of course, welcome to read as many articles as you’d like, as well as any in the article archive.  However, your article selections for the small group discussions must come from this year’s selections.

Links to the required readings will be available soon!
