Ms. Elizabeth K. Johnson

Betsy Johnson is a member of Oregon’s House of Representatives, where she was selected to serve on the Joint Committee on Ways and Means. Her appointments include the Ways and Means Subcommittees on Transportation, General Government and Natural Resources. She also served as Vice Chair of the Smart Growth and Commerce committee. A licensed commercial pilot of both fixed wing and rotor aircraft, she founded TransWestern Helicopters in 1978 and sold the helicopter division of the firm in 1993. She served as manager of the Aeronautics Division of the Oregon Department of Transportation from 1993 to 1998 and then became Vice President for Legislative Affairs for the Oregon Pilots’ Association. Ms. Johnson has served on numerous local, regional and national boards and commissions, including the Oregon Health & Science University Foundation, Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, Oregon Public Broadcasting Foundation, and the High Desert Museum. She is a former director of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and served on the Board of Commissioners for the Port of St. Helens and as Director of the Columbia County Health District. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Carleton College and her J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School in 1977.
