Mr. Mark G. Tratos
Mark G. Tratos was a founding shareholder and President of the Intellectual Property, Internet and Entertainment firm of Quirk and Tratos. Effective May 15, 2005, Mr. Tratos became the Managing Shareholder of the Las Vegas office of the international firm of Greenberg Traurig, when his firm merged with Greenberg Traurig, a full service international law firm with more than 1500 attorneys in offices located in 28 offices.
Mark received his J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School in 1979, where he was a member of the Law Review and was Editor in Chief of the School newspaper, In Res. Mark teaches Cyberlaw, Rights of Publicity/Privacy and Entertainment Law at University of Nevada Las Vegas’ William S. Boyd School of Law. Mark also teaches Media Entertainment--The Business of Entertainment at the world-renowned UNLV School of Hotel Administration, and Entertainment and Fine Arts Law for the UNLV Fine and Performing Arts College. Mark participates as a speaker in Continuing Legal Education programs across the country on issues relating to entertainment, internet and multimedia law, sponsored by such groups as The Practising Law Institute, National Business Associates, The Rutter Group, AIPLA, the American Bar Association and numerous other continuing legal education providers, including the State Bar Association of Nevada and California.
Mark is the author of the Nevada chapter of the International Trademark Association’s State Law and Unfair Competition Handbook and is the author of numerous articles in the field of entertainment and internet law, including “Gaming on the Internet” published by the Stanford Journal of Law, Business and Finance; “Intellectual Property Considerations Every Entertainment Lawyer Should Know” published by the Practising Law Institute; and “Intellectual Property Considerations in the Licensing of Pre-Existing Materials for Use in Multimedia.” His most recent work is “Entertainment on the Internet: The Evolution of Entertainment Production, Distribution, Ownership and Control in the Digital Age” as a chapter in the New York Bar Association’s most recent treatise.
Mark previously served as the Chairman of the Board of the Entertainment Development Corporation (“EDC”) and is the past President of the Nevada Intellectual Property Law Society. He is the past President and General Counsel of the Allied Arts Council of Nevada and the Lied Discovery Children’s’ Museum. Mark was honored by being named “Nevada’s Top Intellectual Property & Entertainment Attorney” in 1999 by the Nevada Business Journal; the 2001 “Industry Leader of the Year” by UNLV’s Hotel School, Department of Tourism and Conventions and “One of the Most Influential Men in Southern Nevada 2001" by In Business magazine, November 2001. In 2002, he was named the ‘Distinguished Graduate of the Year’ by his alma mater, Lewis and Clark College of Law, and in 2003 and is also a member of the College’s Board of Trustees and is Chairman of the Board of Visitors. Mark has been included in the Best Lawyers in America for Intellectual Property each year since 2002.
