Matthew Bergman

Matthew Bergman is the founder and managing partner of the Bergman and Frockt law firm based in Seattle, Washington. He grew up in Seattle and attended Reed College for his undergraduate study. After graduating magna cum laude from Lewis & Clark Law School in 1989, Bergman served two years as a law clerk to a federal judge on the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Matt is a member of the Washington State Trial Bar and was selected in 2005 as a Washington Super Lawyer by Washington Law and Politics magazine, one of the leading chroniclers of the Washington legal scene. He recently served as one of seven lawyers across the nation who negotiated a landmark $4 billion national settlement with the Halliburton Corporation for their asbestos liabilities. $30 million of this settlement went to Bergman & Frock clients, primarily in the Northwest.

In addition to his legal experience, Bergman has worked as a political organizer for the AFL-CIO on voter registration and education campaigns. As a lawyer fighting for the rights of individuals, Bergman continues to work closely with local and international unions throughout the Northwest.

He is licensed to practice in Washington and Oregon and is admitted to the Federal District courts for the Western and Eastern District of Washington and Court of Appeals for the Ninth and Tenth circuits. Matt joined the Law School Board of Visitors in 2007.
