Mr. Steve Doherty

Mr. Doherty earned his B.A. in 1975 from the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School in 1984. While at the Law School, he was the Research & Developments Editor of Environmental Law. After graduation, Mr. Doherty joined the Portland, Oregon law firm of Spears, Lubersky, Campbell, Bledsoe, Anderson & Young as an associate. He later returned to Montana and joined the firm of Graybill, Ostrem, Warner & Crotty. He is now a partner at Smith & Doherty in Great Falls, Montana. Mr. Doherty's practice has concentrated on civil litigation, personal injury, wrongful discharge, civil rights, business torts, and representation of Reservation school districts and tribal housing authorities. He is a member of the State Bars of Montana and Oregon and the Federal Bars in those states. He is the chairman of the Fish and Wildlife Commission of Montana, 2005-2009. He is a recipient of the following awards: Montana Environmental Information Center, Conservationist of the Year 2002; Montana Trial Lawyers Association; Eleanor Roosevelt Global Fellowship 2001; Northwest Energy Coalition Conservation Eagle Award 1999, among others.
