PEAC

Endangered Species Issues

PEAC's successful initiatives to protect wildlife and conserve habitats have resulted in significant protections for biodiversity on a regional and national scale. PEAC led the case, for example, establishing the definition of a "critical habitat" for endangered species under the Endangered Species Act, thus establishing nationwide standards for species protection.

PEAC won critical protections for grizzly bears in Montana’s Flathead National Forest. In his decision, U.S. District Court Judge Donald Molloy halted spring snowmobile use on over 52,000 acres to prevent harm to grizzly bears emerging from their winter dens.
