J.D., magna cum laude, 2001, Lewis & Clark Law School
B.S., 1992, University of Florida

Professional Background

Before attending law school, Terry worked for the Nature Conservancy in both Illinois and Oregon. Expecting to pursue a career in environmental law, Terry chose Lewis & Clark for its outstanding environmental program. After taking her first class in criminal procedure, however, she changed career paths and earned a certificate in criminal law.

Terry was fortunate to be able to take Professor Doug Beloof’s first victims’ rights course offered at L&C. During her third year, Terry took the criminal law internship seminar and worked at the Metropolitan Defender’s office representing defendants in misdemeanor cases. She remained with the public defender’s office as an intern after the course ended. Her final semester at L&C, Terry worked almost exclusively representing clients in the community court program.

After graduating law school, Terry moved to Chicago and began work for the Office of the State Appellate Defender. During her time at OSAD, Terry represented indigent persons on appeal in criminal cases.

Terry is excited to return to L&C and hopes to instill future students with the passion to pursue criminal law through her clinical work at the National Crime Victim Law Institute.
