Professor Johansen Recognized by National Legal Writing Institute

Professor Steve Johansen, director of the Lewis & Clark legal writing program, will be this year’s recipient of the 2010 Blackwell Award.  Granted by the Legal Writing Institute and the Association of Legal Writing Directors, the award recognizes “outstanding achievement in legal writing.”  In making the announcement, the institute stated that the award particularly seeks to acknowledge those who “nurture and motivate students to excellence…,” show a “[w]illingness to help other Legal Writing educators improve their teaching skills or their Legal Writing Programs…,” and who show “[t}he ability to create and integrate new ideas for teaching and motivating Legal Writing educators and students.”  The Legal Writing Institute believes it is “perhaps the most prestigous award given in legal writing to one of our own.”
