Davis Wright Tremaine International Writing Award
First Prize: Rachel Buker's article entitled "Customary Internatinoal Law: An Alternative Theory for the Repartriation of Stolen and Illegally Exported Cultural Property", won the 2009 first place award on the topic of international law. The writing competition award for first place is a $2000 stipend provided by the generosity of Davis Wright Termaine LLP.
2009 NYU Environmental Essay Contest
Tarah Heinzen's article about addressing air pollution from factory farms will be published in NYU Enviromental Law Journal this summer. It was selected through a competition she entered in December. Here's a link to the competition announcement (PDF).
1st Prize in ASCAP's Burkan Copyright Competition
Recent Lewis & Clark Law School graduate, Ms. Melanie E. Kebler, won 1st Prize in the Nathan Burkan Memorial Competition with her essay entitled "Copyright Legislation Challenges and the First Amendment: Eldred's Opening and a New Direction for Copyright Law Evaluation."
Publication in the Defense Counsel Journal
Dorothy Schmidt won the International Association of Defense Counsel legal writing contest. Her paper will be published in the Defense Counsel Journal.
Publication in NAELA Journal
Jerry Carleton won publication of his paper in the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys Student Journal.
National Writing Honor
Tami Santelli won a cash prize in the Pacific Legal Foundation writing contest.
AILR Writing Competition Winner
Student Michael Lawrence won the American Indian Law Review writing competition.
