Video Conferencing for Interviews

Updated June 20, 2008

In addition to the new travel reimbursement service for some out of area judicial clerkship interviews (more details will be available as the program is developed), Lewis & Clark Law School has 2 ways that students can interview with out-of-area employers and judges via video conference.

Option 1: Law School Connect

First, Lewis & Clark Law School is a member of a video conferencing service called Law School Connect. Through this service, students may set up job interviews with any law firm, legal non-profit or judge throughout the country that also participates in Law School Connect. Non-member employers or judges may also access this service for a fee. This service is especially valuable to those of you who are applying for judicial clerkships outside the Pacific Northwest because it will allow you to interview with judges across the country without leaving campus. Because judges are not able to pay travel expenses, it’s also a major cost savings to you.

To see a complete list of participating employers, go to the Law School Connect website: www.lawschoolconnect.com

To date, the following judges and courts are members of Law School Connect:

  • The Hon. Allyson K. Duncan, US Court of Appeals, 4th Circuit
  • California 2nd District Court of Appeals
  • District of Columbia Court of Appeals
  • Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court
  • Minnesota Court of Appeals
  • Minnesota Supreme Court
  • Montana Supreme Court
  • Nebraska Court of Appeals
  • Nebraska Supreme Court
  • New York State Appellate Court Fourth Department
  • Pennsylvania Supreme Court
  • Vermont Supreme Court
  • Virgin Islands Superior Court

If you will be applying to any judges who are currently Law School Connect members, be sure to mention in your cover letter that Lewis & Clark is also a member and that you are available for interview via videoconferencing.

Option 2: Career Services In-House System

Second, the Career Services Office has an in-house system available. Although not as sophisticated as the Law School Connect system, it will provide you with the same options and benefits. Again, be sure to mention that you have video conference capabilities available through your school in any cover letter you send to an out-of-area judge.

To schedule a video conference interview through either of these systems, or if you have any questions about this service, contact Career Services.
